Web Application Development
React, Next.js, user-facing web platforms, portals.
About this service
Web applications are the face of most digital products — the thing your customers, staff, or partners interact with every day. The quality of the implementation directly affects perception of your brand and the productivity of your users. We build web applications that are fast, accessible, and a pleasure to use.
We work primarily with React and Next.js, chosen for their maturity, developer ecosystem, and performance characteristics. We apply these tools pragmatically — server-side rendering where it benefits users (SEO, initial load performance), client-side interactivity where it improves experience, and static generation where it's appropriate.
We build web applications that meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards — not as a checkbox, but because accessible web applications work better for everyone. We test with screen readers, keyboard navigation, and colour contrast checking as standard practice.
How Dreamware approaches this
We start with a clear understanding of who will use the application and what they need to accomplish. Interface design decisions follow from user requirements — we don't apply a design template and fit requirements into it. We prototype key user flows before full build and validate with representative users where possible.
Performance is engineered in, not optimised after. We measure Core Web Vitals from early in the build, make deliberate decisions about what JavaScript loads on first render, and optimise images and assets as part of the build process rather than an afterthought.
What you get
- Production web application — deployed, tested, and meeting agreed performance and accessibility targets
- Design system — component library with documented variants and usage guidelines
- Test suite — end-to-end tests covering critical user journeys
- Performance report — Core Web Vitals baseline and optimisation achieved
- Accessibility audit — WCAG 2.1 AA compliance documented
- Deployment pipeline — automated build and deployment workflow
- Content management integration — where a CMS is required for non-technical content management
Investment guide
Web application projects range from $20,000–$120,000+ NZD. Simpler web applications (portals, internal tools, straightforward customer-facing applications) typically run $20,000–$50,000. Complex web applications with sophisticated interaction patterns, real-time features, or extensive integrations sit higher. We provide fixed-price quotes after a paid discovery and design phase.
All pricing in NZD excluding GST. Fixed-price engagements where scope allows — we'll confirm pricing after a free scoping conversation.
